Beautiful Solutions for Awkward Spaces

Awkward spaces are the jobs I enjoy most. A curved wall, the gap under the stairs, a corner that nothing fits — they're often the spaces other people walk away from, and they're where a properly made piece makes the biggest difference.

Every one is different, so nothing starts from a catalogue. I measure the space, work out what it needs to do, and design the piece around it.

The spaces I solve

  • Under-stair spaces

All angles and often a curve. A shaped door and fitted interior turn dead space into proper storage.

  • Curved walls

Shelves and joinery shaped to follow the bend, rather than straight pieces fighting it.

  • Alcoves and recesses

Units measured to the recess and scribed to the walls so they fill it completely.

  • Narrow areas and small rooms

Pieces that do two jobs at once, so a tight room works harder.

  • Window nooks

Bench seats built into the nook, with storage under the lids.

  • Unused walls

Shelving and wall units made to the exact width and height of the wall.

  • Uneven walls

Built-ins are scribed to the wall so they sit tight even where the plaster isn't flat or square.

  • Dead spaces

The cupboard nobody can reach, the gap beside the fridge — space that can be put to work.
