When you're investing in bespoke furniture, it can be difficult to understand why one design costs more than another.
That's one reason we sometimes provide customers with two or three options for the same project.
Different approaches can produce different prices
A wardrobe can be built using an existing modular system and customised with carpentry.
Or the cabinetry can be built from scratch.
It can use different materials.
It can have simple doors or more detailed doors.
It can have basic shelving or multiple drawers.
It can have a straightforward finish or a high-end sprayed finish.
All of those decisions affect the amount of work involved.
Options help explain the value
Rather than simply giving a customer one price, different options can help show what changes as the project becomes more detailed.
For example, one option might focus on practical storage.
Another might introduce additional drawers or a different door style.
A higher-end option might involve more detailed fabrication and finishing.
The customer can then decide what matters most to them.
It's about making an informed decision
We don't believe customers should need to understand cabinetry manufacturing to make a good decision.
Our job is to explain the options clearly enough that they can understand what they're paying for.
That might mean choosing the simpler solution.
It might mean deciding that a particular detail is worth the additional investment.
Either way, the customer has more information.
Not everything needs to be upgraded
More expensive doesn't automatically mean better for every customer.
If an additional feature doesn't provide meaningful value for the way someone will use the space, it may not be worth adding.
That's where honest advice becomes important.
Bespoke doesn't have to mean unnecessarily complicated
The advantage of bespoke furniture is that it can be designed around the customer.
That means we can focus the budget on the things that actually matter to them.
The result should be a piece that works well, looks right in the room and feels like a worthwhile investment.
